Bambi-Bucket-System

Since 1998 a close partnership exists between Aerotechnik and SEI Industries the manufacturer of Bambi Bucket Systems, a leading system for Fire Fighting.

A total of 15 fire buckets in the Bambi Bucket line have already been successfully deployed by Austrian fire departments in very close and efficient cooperation with the Austrian armed forces and the Ministry of the Interior.

On 17 and 18 May 2004, fire extinguishing water containers (system Bambi-Bucket) on new Sikorsky S-70 Black Hawk helicopters were officially tested at the Tulln Fire Department Training Centre and at the Brumowski Air Base in Langenlebarn, Austria. The test took place in very close cooperation between the regional Fire Fighting units and the Austrian Air Force.
The purpose of the test was to safely carry out fire-extinguishing operations, with special attention being given to the operational limits and sequences of events to be laid down. Three manufacturers were invited to this test.

Testing the Bambi Bucket

Aerotechnik GmbH from Salzburg presented the Bambi Bucket system with a new Torrentula Valve. For the test even the SEI Industrie's regional manager from Europe, Jens Sigvardt, made a special trip from Vancouver, Canada, in order to be on hand at the presentation.
On May 18th 2004, the first flights with the Black Hawk took place. The roughly 3.000-litre Bambi-Bucket was tested empty at increasing speeds and in different configurations. The stable condition and the aviation parameters were very important in terms of the test. Next, the fire bucket was filled halfway and the values were once again determined. Then the Bambi Bucket was completely filled and the characteristics were tested while climbing, descending and hovering as well as at various speed. Finally, the extinguishing pattern of the Bambi Bucket with the Torrentula Valve was ascertained. The knowledge gained at that day by the pilots as well as the fire fighters was then accomplished and will be used for further decision-making.

Aerotechnik as Bambi Bucket centre in Europe

Shortly before the tests, in May 2004, the decision was made to establish Aerotechnik GmbH in Salzburg as Bambi-Bucket Centre responsible for training, information and maintenance of Bambi-Bucket systems applicable for Fire Fighting.  Simultaneously, Aerotechnik became the European Repair Centre for products in the Bambi Bucket line. Users of the world's leading extinguishing system profit from competent repairs, a very high standard of quality, the central location and short response times. Further on, the fact that contact partners speak the same language as the clients improve the Sales Service and the Maintenance of the Bambi Bucket systems.
